Tank (Slippers) are Rolling In

It's has been over 6 months of work and procrastination to finish these master pieces.  Each Panzer Tank is made of about 30 different parts and they even have puffy paint traction on the soles for protection!  These are a gift for a friend using a pattern by Miligurumis, which can be found on etsy.  Made with a j hook and crocheted simultaneously with a black Caron Soft and Caron One Pound gave these slippers the bulk to be men's size 13.  Most of the tank was done with a combination of grey Red Heart and Caron Soft.

And just to put this in perspective, here are almost all the parts of ONE tank slipper, and some of them are already sewn together!

The Lion Inside

The last thing I had to do before graduating from college wasn't writing a paper, taking a test, or eating a ridiculously large celebratory dinner.  No, this was the time for crafting, and let me tell you I really wanted to bring my knitting to convocation, two hours of sitting is way too long to be without crafting supplies!  #addicted  Anyway, my last project as an undergraduate was for my boss's, boss's coworker--it's complicated.

He asked me to make him something crafty.  I suggested a crochet burger and fries that looks like a lot of fun.  He countered with something lion themed, African lions only.  This is what he gets for being so wonderfully vague--his very own lion themed scarf.  Now he can look like Hercules and wear the skin of a lion!

I really enjoyed making this guy with some yellow Caron one pound yarn, orange sparkly funfur, and touches of cream and brown from a really old brand that was bought out by Red Heart.

Totodile Keychain

Apparently I'm getting back in the game! More posts, more projects, and more sales! This cutie was made on request with azure Caron One Pound, a touch of red and yellow Red Heart, and scraps of white and black felt. Top it off with red and black sharpie eyes and a chain mail keychain, things are looking good for this little Pokemon!

Heptoctopus

What do you call a seven legged octopus? HEPTOCTOPUS!!! How do you make an octopus giggle 10 times?… You give him ten-ticles!

Anyway this adorable octopus was made for my roommate for Christmas from seafoam green Caron yarn.

Written By a Kid is Amazing

I might not have blogged in a while about all my crafting... THE MAKING HAS CONSUMED MY LIFE... in short I am crocheting an afghan, two hats, a pair of tank slippers, and oh yeah knitting a pair of socks.  All while studying for finals.  Fun. Times.

ANYWAY LOOK AT GREAT STUDY BREAK FUN THINGS FROM GeekandSundry!!  I've been recommending Written By a Kid to all of my friends, surprisingly for schoolwork...  One of my friends is writing her senior honors thesis on how new media like tumblr, facebook, youtube, etc are affecting literacy and how to incorporate that into the classroom.  Another one of my friends is doing her final project on children's books and how they can be adapted for the internet.  Super cool right?  Anyway Written By a Kid is one of my favorite youtubes and it has kids telling their own stories while the fantastic crew animates them into reality!!  Not only is it super cute, its also a great way to get kids involved in literature and the creative process!  So Subscribe to geekandsundry here:  http://bit.ly/SyeWy8

Metro-Tastic!

Babies babies everywhere!  o.O  Basically my sister knows a lot of people popping out kids, which means baby presents!  Since all of the women were from NYC these MetroCards were specially commissioned!  Since they double as rattles, they might be considered a little large.  And by might I mean they are about 5" x 3" and way to big for a little kid to wave around.  However they are the perfect size for parents to wiggle in front of their child's eyes and for the dog to play with.  Really, it's a question of who can defend it better, a puppy or a baby?

These Metro Cards are fairly accurate and they've been personalized to have the child's name stitched onto the back of the crocheted card!

Professor Bear

This panda bear is rocking the top hat and looking super posh and classy; the only thing he's missing is a monocle!  The story behind this little guy is that the employee of the week gets to take him home and add something to it so that over time he acts a collage of everyone's good work.  Personality is a big part of this too, his name is Cheeseburger.  Personality is a big part of this.  The top hat is one I've used before, but this time I didn't add the extra rows (so it doesn't look like an Amish hat) and I added a little cardboard circle to the top of the hat to give it a little extra definition.  Also the little white stripe is actually from a pompom oh which I've snipped off a little--an excellent decision!
