Chainmaille Necklace!

I'm done with my copper/aluminum chainmaille necklace!  Saturday night with a brand new episode of Doctor Who in front of me, I finished my first piece of something-I-would-actually-wear jewelry, despite the episode being weird and random... but it had Mark Shepperd in it so everything will be okay in the end.

Chainmaille Jewelry

So the good news is I've picked up a new craft and the bad news is that I've picked up a new craft.  I was just introduced to the art of chainmaille jewelry.  I am currently working with copper clad aluminum, a lightweight combo of metal that looks really pretty!  I'm using the saw cut links because they are cheaper (+) but good quality (+/-) while the machine cut ones are more expensive (-) and have a gap (-) but are very smooth (+).  The rings I'm using are 5/16" and have a 14 gauge.  The weave/pattern?  The Mobius Knot!  It's not too hard and is very pretty!  Right now I have a little under 4inches and 31 rings... so to make a 14.5in necklace I'm going to need a little more than 80 more rings.
Advice: This website also has a lot of weaves and patterns listed, advice on ring sizes, and a couple direction sets to get you hooked on the craft and buy their book... it might be working!  ^_^  For more patterns and advice this site is a good one too!  Lastly I was recommended to A. C. Moore as a craft store like JoAnn's and Michaels to get the basic materials, but if I get really addicted to this sort of expensive craft The Ring Lord is the only way to go; they have a great selection but it's ordering from Canada so the shipping costs are an expected downside.

Lastly, this little Etsy shop is AWESOME-check it out!

Selling Items from Lion Brand Patterns

Well, I was pursuing my daily intake of crafting websites and blogs when I saw this nifty Lion Brand Post!  Crafters everywhere can sell the products they make from Lion Brand Patterns--but not the patterns of course.  Very exciting!  Now the question is, when will I have time to make any of this stuff?!  :D

K-9 and Company

It has come to my attention that I never posted a picture of my knit K-9, the robotic dog from Doctor Who.  I finished this last summer and the pattern came from *drumroll* The Doctor Who Pattern Book!

Phase 1: This is the side panel

Phase 2: K-9 is completely knitted but he needs his buttons and ears!

Phase 3: FINISHED!

...and what does K-9 travel in?  The T.A.R.D.I.S. of course!

This is a full length felt door covering put together with a little hand sewing and steam-a-seam iron on glue.  It's very easy to put together and only took about a week once I got all of the materials.  It even has a white erase board so the Doctor can leave K-9 messages when he's out!  :D

Eight weeks Later

Eight Weeks to the day tomorrow.  That's how long I've been crocheting this afghan, running out of yarn two to three times.  Always working away on something or another.  I am currently midway through the 5th stripe. (6.25 rws = 1 pound of yarn at this point!!)  To think that I'm going to keep on going until it's the size of a king size bed and right now it's big enough for a double!  Goodness gracious how much longer?!  :P  Well since I've run out of yarn at this location, I need to go back home for the next shipment with the same dye lot, there is no fear of this afghan getting bigger while I laze around to getting a picture up... right now!  I mean NOW! Well, maybe tomorrow :)
P.S. This is an aerial of the afghan on a King Size Bed... yes it is that big!  :)

Parade of the Dinosaurs

It's Origami Time!!!  So I've been making dancer mail which has hence been lost in a Pit of Despair... not joking it was thrown out on accident leaving one very depressed girl and one very unfairly guilt-ed girl in its wake.  Thus to preserve these masterpieces for all of time and space, I now officially post them online from the deepest, tenderest places of my heart.  Oh wait, I remember making these with a deranged witty pleasure... so maybe "from the depths of my crazed and obsessed crafty places of my heart" is a little better.

A Piggy Bank Change Purse... Sinister

I admit, I needed something to qualify for an original pattern that I could make up at the drop of a hat.  I had one very non craft busy week and I was working to the last moment on this one: a very sinister piggy bank change purse that can scare away even the nicest souls with his evil square eyes... which after looking at my keyboard for a while I can find no way to accurately replicate.  >.<  Oh well!  Anyhow I have the pattern all done and basically perfected but I'm debating actually submitting it to something, I mean that's the reason why I made it in the first place, hmmmm.  Decisions, decisions, decisions.  Oh well that's what this is for!  I shall post now and think later... right?  Right!  :)  You know it's late when... you post pictures of a pig online.  You know it is way too early when... you start talking to yourself in a blog about posting a picture of a pig online.  Jeez, on with the show!
